Final Project

To get background research on my final project, I interviewed my mother. She gave me basic facts and knowledge of some of my family members. Next I interviewed my grandmother. She gave a lot of insight into my family past. To get some more information, I sent an email to my dad. He didn't respond but I had enough information. After interviewing my family members, I made a family tree which is here. Since I collected all this information, I was able to create two projects which is down below,

Blog Post of the Day:
What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend.

For Thanksgiving, I'm going back to Michigan. I leave Tuesday and will be back on Saturday. I'm really excited to see my family and my two best friends. It felt like it's been forever since I've seen them. On Thursday, I have to go to my grandmother's house on my mom's side, my aunt's house on my dad's side, and then this hall thing on my mom's side again. It's a lot in one day! And early in the morning on Friday, my bestfriend and I are going Black Friday shopping. I'm so excited because this will be the first time I've done it at 3 in the morning. And that's all that I have planned!

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your weekend.

On Friday, I opened my birthday present from my parents. My birthday was on Tuesday but since my dad has really crazy hours, we celebrated it on Tuesday. Anyways, my parents got me a new computer. I was so happy and shocked. Before I could open it though, we had to go out for dinner. For dinner we went to Jose Peppers. I just  wanted to finish my food so I could go home and mess with the laptop. I was disappointed with the laptop though because most of the keys weren't working. We went back and got a brand new laptop. The keys on this was working but it didn't recognize wifi. So we took that one back, got a new laptop with a different brand. I was so happy to finally get the laptop that I wanted and it was touch screen. and this is the exciting things I did this weekend.

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your experience with taking your stop-motion photos. What problems did you run in to? What did you find difficult about the process? What would you go back and change about HOW you took the photos? Explain yourself.

The experience was okay I guess. I didn't really understand why we have to take pictures in a computer class. It was kind of fun doing it though. It was really hard making sure that the camera was steady and stayed the same through all the pictures. Another difficult thing was taking a picture, and then moving and then taking another picture and moving something. Next time, I would try to use a tripod so the process wouldn't be as difficult.

Blog Post of the Day:
What is stop motion animation? If you don't know, look it up! Explain.

Stop motion animation is when you make and animation that  can not physically move seem to move. You see this in many different cartoon and animated movies. What I do know is that you have figures and you move them around slowly with a video recorder or camera. When you change the angle or  position of  the figure, you record or take a picture of that little piece that you moved. For example, the movie Chicken Run is stop motion animated. The characters and the set was made of some kind of clay.

5 Frame Storyboard

Wednesday, November 5

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your idea for your 5 frame story board. What is the plot? How do you plan to make the story creative? Who's the main character? What is the beginning, middle and end? Tell me about your plan of attack.

My 5 picture story board is me getting a milkshake and drinking. It is not at all interesting and it is probably pretty boring. I wish I could make it really interesting , but I just don't know how to do that. Getting a milkshake isn't very interesting but it is the best that I could come up with. The main character in the story is me. I honestly don't understand what mean by plan of attack but I think some of the images I took looked really great.

Blog Post of the Day:
Yesterday you edited and uploaded photos to your blog. Tell me more about your photos. HOW did you edit them? Why did you choose the photos that you did? Explain your assignment.

I don't really know how to explain my photos. I really things with art and nature. I feel like pictures with those look amazing. I tried to use different "filters" but I mostly made them a lot bright and add a little bit more detail to them. With the photo of my dog, I made it black and white because it seemed different and it suited the picture.I chose the photos I used because by looking at them, I knew they had some sort of potential to be something greater. I felt they were kind of unique and different but still very simple.

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your weekend - details please!

This weekend was pretty much just like my other weekends. I did stuff but it was just average. Friday of course was Halloween. When got home, I just relaxed for a while and then put my costume on. I actually got a lot of compliments on it from the kids I was passing out candy to. It was actually surprising because I didn't think it was all that grand. While I was passing out candy, I watching Gossip Girl on Netflix. That is currently my favorite. Other than passing out candy, nothing really happened. And that's my interesting weekend for you guys.

Blog Post of the Day:
What do you know about photography and/or photo editing? Do you take photos? How do you take photos? Do you edit photos before posting them on social media? How do you edit them? Explain any background or knowledge you have about photography and photo editing. Do you like it? Do you have any interest?

I really do like pictures and taking them. You  can make so many different assumptions from photo, it's crazy. Personally, I do take photo of myself but they don't always turn out that well.  I'd rather be behind the camera than in front of it. Next semester, I am taking Photography 1. When posting pictures on social media, I rarely edit pictures. the only "filter" I may use is black and white. Natural is whats best for me but, a filter is better for others.

Tell me about your weekend. Share pics!

This weekend, I need nothing as usual. The only thing I really did was go to the pink out game on Friday. It honestly wasn't that fun. The first football game was fun but the rest of them has been a drag after that. When I got home that night, I laid in bed, relaxed, and watched Netflix on my Kindle. That's the only I use it is to watch tv. I prefer an iPad but I'm with what I have.  Anyway's, all day and some of the night, I was watching a show called the Fosters. I finished both seasons in three days. Season 1 had 21 episodes and season 2 only had 10. The run time is 43 minutes. I know this blog post is kind of boring but I needed something to write about.

Blog Post of the Day:
Below is a letter written to the editor who wrote the article 'Enforcement of dress code creates negative effect' that your blogged about last week. Most of you wrote on your blog that you agreed with the writer. What are your thoughts after reading the letter below and seeing a different perspective. Are they the same? Are the different? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.
You do make some very good points. She was really only thinking about students perspective but not  school's staff point of view. When I first wrote on this topic, I did agree with a lot of the things she said but, I also tried to put the perspective of others in the post and what I have seen personally. Writing the article was good but everyone knows administration is not going to change the dress code any time soon. Personally, I feel staff and students should come up with a common ground that fits both of our wants for dress code.

Blog post of the day:
The following article was in the September issue of The Tiger Print. Read the article (even if you already have) and respond to it below. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Consider all perspectives of the article while you respond.

I understand what she is saying. I don't really like the thumb-rule but honestly nobody follows that rule anyway. I only agree with some of the things she said. I already see girls who wear overly large shirts with very small shorts so it looks like they're not wearing any pants. Also, on multiple associations, I have seen other people with half of their butt checks hanging out.  Most people's shorts aren't that little but I do feel some type of rule should be in place. For the spaghetti straps, I don't think that is a very big issue. I don't understand how having my shoulder out could have a boy attracted to me. Some of the rules are far but some of them aren't. Maybe administration should trust the girls more to have self respect for themselves.

Tell me about your weekend! If you don't have anything fun to share, tell me about the city you live in. What do you love about Kansas City? Do you have a favorite place in the city? Favorite team? :) Favorite event? Explain.

This weekend I went St. Louis. My godmother's nephew got married so it was pretty fun. I missed them; their like my second family. I also got to spend son quality time with my parents. I love that in Kansas City, I live right by stores and shops and it takes 5 minutes just to get to school. Of course my favorite place is the mall. That's all I really do in my free time. I kind of  watch sports but, my favorite  baseball team is the Tigers, not the Royals. The Tigers are my favorite because I lived in Detroit my whole life and I use to go to a lot of their games.

What is an infographic? If you don't know, go look it up. Read about it and then in your own words tell me what an infographic is. What do infographics do? How do they work? What makes a really good infographic?

Find an example of a really cool infographic on the web and place it on your blog.

I think an infographic is a visual image of charts and or graphs. They give you information that looks as if it's drawn or something. I think they work in chronological order but, I'm not 100% sure. What makes a nice to mean is having it be color coded with a key describing what the colors stand for.

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

After school on Friday I didn't go to the parade. When my mom was taking me home, we got stopped by the parade people at a traffic light but, we only saw a few things and than they let us go. That night, I did go to the homecoming football game. It was kind of fun but, not that much because, we were beating the other team by so much and I was tired. Saturday, I did go to homecoming. I got my hair and nails done, then I went over my friend Sarah's house to take pictures. After pictures we went to Applebee's and then we were off to the dance. The dance was pretty fun and I had a good time.

Blog Post of the Day:
Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

One change I would make is the class periods. 7 hours are hard for kids to keep up with. Students should be challenged but, you shouldn't over push them. I think students would  have better GPA's and more time for extracurricular activities. Tests and are hard to study for if most of them are on the same day or same week. 7 hours are okay but I feel that 6 would be better.

What are your favorite apps on your phone or tablet? Why?

My favorite app on my iPod is Instagram. I love posting pictures and seeing what other people has posted. Also, since really don't like using my ugly Motorola phone, I keep in contact with my friends from Michigan with the apps kik and snapchat. Kik is just texting from an app. I dont use iMessage because its kind of embarrassing giving somebody your email just so u can text them. Snapchat is one of my favorite apps because you can so much with pictures and somebody can only see it for a few seconds.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

Email is a way to get information and communicate with others though electronic devices. Most adults use email to contact co-workers, supervisors, and their bosses. For instance, my dad uses email to keep in contact with his old friends. My mom used e-mail for a job interview. Teenagers mostly use their e-mail to set up their phone, use social media and other apps. I have no idea what email etiquette is.

Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... what do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

I like Emerging Tech.  I've learned a lot of things in the class. Even my parents were interested in the new stuff I learned. The class is pretty cool even though I'm mostly quiet. The seniors can get a little a crazy sometimes and very annoying but, I like it. I find the web tools you gave us very useful. I love Evernote because, I don't have to write down my research nor do I have to type in the same stuff to find it. They are very helpful to because, when I'm doing another research project, I know what great tools i can use. These tools will definitely be helpful through out college. I heard college was  very difficult and the tools you've provided for us will come with great use.

Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed writing or hated writing. Why?

I love writing. I enjoy writing because, it always me to express myself and what I'm thinking. Mostly, I enjoy writing at home because, I have unlimited amount of time to do it, I get advice from my parents, and it would be completely quiet at home. I pour my heart and soul into essay writing. Surprisingly, it calms me down. Writing is important period because, you could not get through school without it and that means you wouldn't be able to get a decent job. One time I had to write a paper about this book. Even though I don't really like reading, it was actually a good book. So, writing a paper on the book was even more amazing.

Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.
When I see this quote, I mostly think of school. I think of how many students didn't do their homework for class, so all those students are unprepared. For example, I took a biology test on Friday. For some reason, I felt like I didn't need to study because I knew everything there was to the test. That was clearly wrong. While I was taking the test, I was confused on a few questions. Luckily, I passed the test with a C. So what I get from this is life is like test, if you don't prepare for it, your going to fail.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

This weekend was pretty fun I guess. Friday, I went to the football game. It was fun seeing my friends and hanging out with them. I was pretty upset they ran out of Chick-fil-a sandwiches, but it was fun cheering on the tigers. Saturday, my mother and I went to the movies. We saw this brand new movie called No Good Deed. It was pretty good but, the movie started off really slow. After the movies, we went jewelry shopping for my Homecoming dress. Then we stayed home the rest of the day and just relaxed. Sunday, when my father came home from work, we to a restaurant for lunch. The place was pretty, but I loved them for their shrimp. Then we dropped my dad off, and my mother and I went grocery shopping. When we returned, I kicked back, watched Tom and Jerry, and did the homework that I had over the weekend.

Blog Post of the Day:
What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

Research is important because it gives us basic or complex knowledge that we want to know about a topic. You can research things you don't know, want to know, or need help understanding something you already know. We need research because we wouldn't have full facts on a topic. You may have a little knowledge about something but, without research we wouldn't have all the facts about it. In high school, I learned that researching topics can be very difficult. Most of the time, your teacher doesn't want you to use one source. They want you to have multiply. Also, all my teachers want me to site my sources to see if their credible or not. Its hard finding good sources because there's a lot of things out there on he web and you don't if they're true or not. They always want you to use .org, .net, .edu. Sometimes those sites don't have all the information you need. Sometimes my teachers are helpful. It seem like they tell us students what to do and then we jut have to do it without any help. But, I guess that's just ho high school is.

Boy, kids these days. These look crazy now in days. They have kind of color to their clothing. Nothing is bold. Everything is just so boring. It's just silly. What the heck happened to Jerry curls. Like these kids hair is just all over the place with short hair cuts and always wearing their hair straight. Have you heard their music too? Our music was the stuff. It made everybody feel good. Now these kids talkin' about killing and drugs and talking off they clothes. This is madness. Do people see how these kids use this so called text messages. I can hardly understand what my grandchildren text me. We didn't even have text messages back then. If you wanted to talk to me, you better call me on the house phone. This generation is crazy.

My global issue is rainforest deforestation. Many people have been destroying the rainforest for their own selfish purposes and they are unaware of the repercussions of these actions. I'm looking forward to seeing how the  rainforest are being protected and whats the likely chance they will remain in our future. Also, I want to see if the rainforest could grow back if most of the trees are taken down. I also am really intrigued to learn about he hundreds of animlas

Yesterday I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

Real PSA's do no not have bullets and headers. I'm sure you are probably bored seeing the same thing over and over again. Also, a person, or that person's project, can not be unique if it's the same as everybody else's. We  also wouldn't learn the full extent of google slides  if we always use the exact same things. There wouldn't be any point of you giving us a good grade because, we wouldn't have learned anything different.

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

This weekend i didn't do that much honestly. My parents and i went to the mall on Saturday to find me more clothes for school.  My dad did his own little shopping while my mom helped me. We didn't do that much shopping but i was with the stuff that i got. Mom kind of got on my nerves a little bit because we went into Dillards just to look for me some regular clothes. Just so happened right next to juniors section was homecoming dresses. I really don even want to go to homecoming but, my aunt Stacey practically volunteered me to go. Anyways, she was being super annoying and wanted to look at those all day. After the mall, we went out to eat at this restaurant but, I forgot the name of it.  Then we went pillow shopping or my room because, I felt like my bed was so boring. Sunday we did the exact same thing: looking for furniture and stuff. On Monday, my dad had to work but, when he came, he and my mom were grilling since it was the holiday. While they were doing that, i was cleaning up my room. I also accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet and still haven't told them. Wish me luck. This is what I did on my labor day holiday.

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I agree with what the man said . You are almost an adult and can not count on others to do what you are responsible for. I do not agree with his approach of the situation. There's a lot of people in the world that's emotional. Teenagers need love and support, not harsh words and cruelty. We have to become more independent since were going to be young adults soon. Without a good support system, a lot of teenager don't make it into the big, bad harsh world. Love, support, and kindness will help lead someone to success.

What is a Public Service Announcement? If you don't know what it is, Google it. In your own words, now tell me what it is? What are they used for? Can you recall an example of a PSA you've seen before?

A PSA is an announcement by the media with no charge. The purpose of the announcement is to bring attention of a certain issue to the public's attention. I have experienced several service announcements. They all touched me and moved to never do the things those people have. They have lost so much from making the wrong choices and i don't want to end up like that. I saw one when a man was smoking too much and he was barely able to talk. They put a whole in his throat or him to breath better. Also, another man got gum diastase from smoking and lost most of his teeth except for a few. He removed his fake teeth from his mouth and said his remaining teeth looked a if they we're a hippo's.
